San Francisco Department of Human Services Training Project


The Bay Area Academy has a county-specific contract with the San Francisco Department of Human Services to provide professional development services to the county's public child welfare social workers, public health nurses, foster care providers, and appropriate community service providers working in or with the public child welfare system. The Academy works closely with the Child Welfare management, community partners and the training supervisor to develop trainings and other events specifically designed to meet the needs of the City and County of San Francisco. The Bay Area Academy is currently developing training and consultation in the areas of resiliency, permanency, disproportionality and attachment/trauma recovery.

San Francisco Foster Parent Training Project

The Bay Area Academy has a county-specific contract with San Francisco Human Services Agency to provide PRIDE training to all new resource families in San Francisco. This training is a 9-week introduction training that is mandatory for all new families caring for San Francisco children who are placed out of their homes. This training follows the principles of Family to Family that recommends the placement of children be with family and in their communities of origin.
